Wearable Tech: A Wellness Tool for Consumers...but a Liability Minefield for Manufacturers?

This Webinar includes in-house counsel from Garmin, an engineer from Exponent, and an attorney who serves as outside counsel, and they will discuss the liability implications of body technology. The wearable tech market is expected to exceed 50 billion in the next two years, so this panel will highlight innovations in the industry and discuss related legal issues. From wearable devices with features like pulse oximeters and heart rate monitors to medical devices with features like EKG or glucose monitoring, the panelists will help you know what to watch for as consumers and clinicians increasingly use these devices for their health and wellness needs.

Key Takeaways:

1.   The industry for body technology products is growing exponentially.
2.   As more consumers rely on products to give them information about their health, manufacturers face increasing liability risks.
3.   Body technology manufacturers should be on high alert for injuries related to the end consumer.

Learning Objectives:

•    Discuss innovations in the wearable technology industry.
•    Differentiate between the issues facing wellness tools versus medical devices.
•    Identify ways body tech manufacturers can protect themselves from liability as consumers and clinicians become more reliant on wearables.
